ওহীর সূত্রে নাযিল হওয়া আদর্শই রাসূল করীম(স) বাস্তব কাজে ও কর্মে অনুসরণ করেছেন, তা-ই হচ্ছে ‘সুন্নাত’। এই সুন্নাতেরই অপর নাম ইসলাম।কুরআন মজীদে এ সুন্নাতকেই ‘সিরাতুল মুস্তাকীম’ বলে অভিহিত করা হয়েছে। রাসূলের জবানীতে কুরআন মজীদে ঘোষণা করা হয়েছে-নিশ্চয়ই এ হচ্চে আমার সঠিক সরল দৃঢ় পথ। অতএব তোমরা এ পথই অনসরণ করে চলবে, এ ছাড়া অন্যান্য পথের অনুসরণ তোমরা করবেনা। তা করলে তা তোমাদের এ পথ হতে বিচ্ছিন্ন করে দূরে নিয়ে যাবে। আল্লাহ তোমাদের এরূপ-ই নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন যেন তোমরা ভয় করে চলো।এ আয়াতে ‘সিরাতুল মুস্তাকীম’ বলতে সে জিনিসকেই বুঝানো হয়েছে, যা বোঝায় ‘সুন্নাত’ শব্দ হতে। ইমাম শাতেবী ‘সিরাতুল মুস্তাকীম’ এর পরিচয় সম্পর্কে লিখেছেনঃ ‘সিরাতুল মুস্তাকীম’ হচে্ছ আল্লাহর সেই পথ, যা অনুসরণের জন্য তিনি দাওয়াত দিয়েছেন। আর তা-ই সুন্নাত; আর অন্যান্য পথ বলতে বোঝানো হয়েছে বিরোধ ও বিভেদপন্থীদের পথ, যা মানুষকে ‘সিরাতুল মুস্তাকীম’ হতে দূরে সরিয়ে নিয়ে যায়। আর তারাই হচ্ছে বিদয়াতপন্থী লোক। আরও মনে রাখতে হবে, সুন্নাত হচ্ছে তা-ই , যা বিদয়াতের বিপরীত অর্থে ব্যবহৃত হয়। কেননা এ সুন্নাতের বিপরীতই হচ্ছে বিদয়াত।সুন্নাত ও বিদয়াত এর সঠিক জ্ঞান পেতে একটি আলোচিত বই।

The book has been written by a great philosopher on islam in the contemporary period named 'Moulana Muhammad Abdur Rahim'. It has been published by 'Khairun Prokashoni' situated at 45, Banglabazar, Dhaka. The book was first published in September, 1967 and re-printed for the 15th time in January 2012, it proves the huge demand, acceptibility and credibility of the book among the society of readers. 'Sunnah' means what Hazrat Muhammad (sm.) did, said and approved during his lifetime after 'Nabuyat'. After his 'Ofat' it is the duty of his 'Ummat' just to follow the Quran and Sunnah in the same way as shown by our Propher (sm.) without making any addition or substraction. But this is very unfortunate for us that some of our blackship innovated new 'Amal' in order to acquire Allah's satisfaction in a shorter and easier way and behind which there is no specific reference of Quranic 'Ayat' and Sahih Hadith. Those are simply 'Bidyat'. Now-a-days, 'Bidyat' cab be found anywhere and everywhere of the world more or less. It is one of the reasons which divided the Muslim community in different sectors and sub-sectors, though all the Muslims have only one 'God', one 'Prophet', one 'Qitab' and One 'Din'. However, this book 'Sunnat O bidyat' is a great effort in distinguishing between the 'Sunnat' and 'bidyat', pointing out what are the most common and serious 'bidyats' existed and practiced in our society and putting references against those on the basis of 'Quran', 'Sunnah' and opinions of prominent scholars. At the end, this book can be of great help for the Muslims to identify the 'bidyats' mixed in their holy 'Din' and to get rid of the same and to enlighten their life by the light of 'Quran' and 'Sahih Hadith'.
